And why not? Let's do it, whoever has the time & expertise. One or the other original article would become a REDIRECT. Peter Horn 02:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

Subsidiaries

edit

[1] may be a full list of subsidiaries. I'm going to wait until the STB site gets back up and cross-check against that. --NE2 14:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

G&W Annual Meeting

edit

If I attend the G&W Annual Meeting later this month in Greenwich, CT, what material or information can I request from the management? Obviously they have maps, photos, etc., but there is always the copyright/permission issue to overcome for Wikimedia Commons. Suggestions? --DThomsen8 (talk) 14:03, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why would you go to the annual meeting to do that? --NE2 14:27, 7 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I am going to the annual meeting because I want to learn more about the company and its management. If I can obtain any information or consent which would improve this G&W article, I will, but it is not the main reason I am going. So, anyone can say what would be helpful for the article, no guarantee that I would even ask for it, let alone get it. Suggestions?--DThomsen8 (talk) 01:48, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

KWT Railway and Tomahawk Railway articles

edit

The table has only two missing articles for railways in operation, KWT Railway and Tomahawk Railway. I would like some rail fan to add those two articles to Wikipedia. --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:20, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Railroad links:

These links are to the specific railroads on the G&W web site. --DThomsen8 (talk) 15:26, 15 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Tarcoola to Darwin Railway

edit

The ref used is not clear on the relationship between ownership and operation of the Darwin Line - it is a hotch potch of leases - with the Tarcoola to Alice section being built and owned by the Commonwealth Government and leased to the Asia-Pacific Transport Consortium. Similarly the section between Alice and Darwin is an operational lease, held by GWN - Genesee and Wyoming Northern (or something) - all they own is a lease!

The railway has been subject to much debate in relation to its design and construction, with the older section still running third hand 80lb/y rail, and the northern section built on narrow gauge alignment, with tight gauge

May be someone can find some refs13:43, 9 April 2011 (UTC) Sulzer55 (talk) 07:23, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Update to Reflect UK/Europe Separation

edit

In April 2024, G&W's operations in the UK/Europe were separated out as a sister company under Freightliner Group Limited. Therefore, G&W does not technically own any subsidiary or operation outside of the United States and Canada anymore. The introductory information on the page needs to reflect that (we're now just 4,000 employees serving 2,000 customers vs. 7,500 employees serving 3,000 customers). And area served needs to shower (former) next to every country except the United States and Canada.
