Fair use rationale for Image:Irltexas2007.jpg
editImage:Irltexas2007.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Firestone Twin 275s → Firestone 550 – The name of this event in 2010 was the Firestone 550. it was contested as a single 550-kilometer race. In 2011, it was changed to the Firestone Twin 275s, and contested as a "twin" event, with two 275-kilometer races under the same banner; and the page was moved appropriately. For 2012, the event is reverting back to the previous name and previous single-race format, and it should be moved back to Firestone 550. Doctorindy (talk) 18:06, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: Consensus to move to IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway. No such user (talk) 09:31, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
Genesys 600 → ? – Current title is misleading, as this year's event is scheduled to consist of two separate races, named "Genesys 300" and "XPEL 375", respectively. Furthermore, common convention has been to not include sponsors in article title. However, I have no idea where this article should be moved to. I just know that the current title is inappropriate. - Move to IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway. I noticed the other day that the article Texas Grand Prix (a new-for-2021 NASCAR race event) was previously at NASCAR at COTA before the name of the race (and thus the basis for the current title) was announced. Seeing as this IndyCar event lacks any COMMONNAME (due to multiple changing title sponsors taking up the entire name of the race for it's entire history), I now believe that the most WP:CONCISE and WP:PRECISE title is at this proposal. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 15:06, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support move to IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway. Alternatively we could split the article and start a new one for this event. But the move seems a good interim solution at least. It may be that a common name emerges, as per WP:NAMECHANGES. Disagree that common convention has been to not include sponsors in article title. It's more complicated than that! Andrewa (talk) 00:22, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support a move to any suitable WP:NDESC title. The current article seems somewhat disjointed and it may be desirable to split it, as it covers races at both Texas World Speedway (RIP) and Texas Motor Speedway. IndyCar oval races in Texas may be the most appropriate title for the article as it currently exists, although the previously proposed move to IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway is better than the current title and I would support a move to that. - My preference would be to split the TWS races into their own article and have this one only cover the IRL/ICS races from 1997. But it doesn't matter too much to me. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 17:51, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
- Considering the College Station races are a largely separate topic from the Fort Worth races (the only real connection is that they're oval single-seater races in Texas) it would probably be reasonable to split them into a separate article. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 07:49, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- Comment - Looking at the page history shows that this page originally only concerned itself with the Fort Worth races and the information about the College Station races was added later on. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 16:50, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose - The switch to "common names" has come up in the past (several times) at Wikipedia, and the consensus on more than one occasion has been a general opposition to what end up being MADE UP common names. Sponsorship titles are not entirely 'taboo' on Wikipedia, and with IndyCar and NASCAR race articles, the page move tool has been used numerous times to facilitate the frequent changes, all the while keeping the races current with their actual names. "IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway" (and the like) is a completely made up title that has no support or citation in any reliable sources. Note that note that WP:NDESC specifically states "descriptive titles should be based on sources", and no reliable sources use the overly generic, made-up race names. Furthermore, it is not known whether the switch to a doubleheader weekend at Texas for 2021 is permanent, or just a 1-year experiment (mean to add an extra oval race after Iowa & Richmond were lost). As for Topic 2, the College Station information needs to be migrated over to the Texas World Speedway article. Doctorindy↔Talk 19:34, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Follow-up Any work with this Texas article, and the Texas World Speedway article, should also incorporate some concurrent improvements with Chevy 500. A breakaway article was created for the old fall race (Texas II). Doctorindy↔Talk 19:39, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Is the former second race actually independently notable? A single article covering all Indy Car races at Texas Motor Speedway would seem more coherent and useful to me, especially given the frequent changes in sponsor, length, and format to the races documented in this article. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 21:11, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Re: "

" - The claim that no reliable sources would refer to Indy Car races at Texas Motor Speedway as "Indy Car races at Texas Motor Speedway" (or indeed as the "IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway") is a fairly extraordinary one and I would need to see proof of such a claim. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 21:14, 26 April 2021 (UTC)- Comment - A quick Google search shows that the Associated Press uses "IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway" and "IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway" here, Autoweek uses "IndyCar race at Texas Motor Speedway", the Indianapolis Star uses "IndyCar at Texas Motor Speedway" here, NBC uses "INDYCAR at Texas Motor Speedway" here, and Indycar themselves use "NTT IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway" here. These WP:NDESC names are clearly commonly recognisable WP:COMMONNAMEs, and are also clearer and more descriptive than "Sponsor McSponsorface X00", which is ambiguous as it could refer to any race in any series which uses that general naming format. - Comment: @Doctorindy: Are you suggesting we create a new article for XPEL 375 and move this to Genesys 300? I don't understand your opposition in the slightest, frankly. Per HumanBodyPiloter5, [series] at [racetrack] is a very common way for media to list a race (it was standard on ABC/ESPN for their NASCAR coverage from '07-'14 unless the race sponsor also paid them). GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 22:58, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Also, "the page move tool has been used numerous times to facilitate the frequent changes" is exactly what I'm trying to avoid in the future with this move request. We should be avoiding frequent moves when possible. GhostOfDanGurney (talk) 23:02, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Support move to IndyCar Series at Texas Motor Speedway, more steady and more precise name for people who aren't really close to the IndyCar or NASCAR sponsors and news. X series at X speedway seems a common practice in wikipedia for other sports. Having all the races of same competition on same track allows us to have a picture of the winners at that track at that competition. Usually people will say "driver x won 3 of last races at Texas" (for that competition), and that will include races in spring (or regular season) and autumn (or play-offs). Besides that, Texas Motor Speedway has the winner of all races. The article should be only about the track. The list of winners should be in their competition page (like this one) or having a list just for that like Silverstone race winners.Rpo.castro (talk) 11:27, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
