Pronunciation of name

edit

The article gives the pronunciation [ʒənvilje] and the recorded pronunciation on French WP does rather sound like this. However, the normal pronunciation for this spelling would be [ʒɛnvilje] and this is the one given on this recording. I know that local pronunciations of place names do not always conform with standard patterns – Enghien-les-Bains [ɑ̃ɡɛ̃lebɛ̃] is a case in point (cf. Enghien in Belgium – see fr:Enghien [ɑ̃ɡjɛ̃]) – and I wondered if there is anyone out there who knows this locality better that I do and could elucidate the matter. I am revisiting this and notice that someone has modified the pronunciation to [ʒœnvilje]. Certainly, the recording on French WP bears this out and I have found this web page, which corroborates the newer version. LynwoodF (talk) 20:48, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
