importance

edit

except for some articles talking about this by its launch, I dont see anything special that justify a wiki page. Uziel302 (talk) 06:12, 22 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

I missed your comment earlier. These are not just "some articles". If you do a Google News search, you'll see that this was covered in multiple countries by major news organizations. Coverage continued for several months. IronGargoyle (talk) 00:35, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

GeoSettr -- create custom challanges

edit

A later feature of GeoGuessr was the ability to share challenges, allowing someone else to try the same set of 5 points that you tried. A third-party site worked out the format of the challenge URLs, and created http://www.geosettr.com/ which lets you specify 5 points and turn them into a challenge URL. I thought this worth mentioning on the talk page, at a minimum, and maybe even in the article. 63.251.123.2 (talk) 00:19, 22 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Possible changes and-or aditions

edit

The new version of Geoguessr give points between 0 and 5000. The old version is still available as "retro version". There are also special versions of the game for specific countries/regions/events.

Beside locations photographed by Google Street View cameras there are other posible locations: those taken from geolocated spherical pictures incorporated to google maps from google map views (https://www.google.com/maps/views/home) or stored in google plus profiles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.57.29.21 (talk) 10:49, 1 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Google reviews

edit

You should look at the Google reviews for this game. Yeesh. Poydoo (talk) 18:30, 14 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

"The locations are limited to roads and other paths"

Some years ago, it placed me under water off Hawaii, so I don't think that this is strictly true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.92.198.41 (talk) 22:24, April 16, 2021 (UTC)

GeoGuessr Inspired Games

edit

A section for GeoGuessr-inspired games such as GTA GeoGuesser should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.154.139.42 (talk) 10:33, August 12, 2021 (UTC)

Lostgamer section

edit

Hi all, moving from Draft:Lostgamer.

In about a week, I'm going to add a section about Lostgamer. It's not notable enough for it's own article in it's own right, but all of the sources listed on the Draft article have some sort of reference to GeoGuessr. Therefore, a section on this page should be added to refer to the site.

If there are any objections/comments, please feel free to put them here. MehPoster (talk) 03:12, 3 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Per a previous discussion, I think there may perhaps be justification for a section on games inspired by GeoGuessr. I don't see why we could justify singling out Lostgamer. It would be inappropriate to dedicate a section to it, but with sufficient referencing I see no reason not to include it in a section of games influenced by GG. Add a separate page for Seterra

edit

As a novice editor, I don't believe I have the skills to perform a task such as creating a new article. Despite this, it seems that Seterra has been seriously under-represented on Wikipedia. The only mention I could find of Seterra is a single time on this page saying how it's been integrated into Geoguessr, nothing about it itself. Seterra has been used by all sorts of teachers and it has a rich speedrunning community. This gives it the relevance for its own page. Senator Spectral (talk) 05:29, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Feel free to follow the process at Wikipedia:Articles for creation which helps you draft an article and then submit it for more experienced editors to review. It'll need to show why it's notable (see Wikipedia:Notability (web)). Good luck! MIDI (talk) 11:09, 20 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Add New Subsection for Ranked/Competitive Scoring

edit

Adding the tiers (bronze, silver, gold, master, champion) and descriptions would add to this article. Bluerat15 (talk) 02:20, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
