Problematic edits
@BlackTea Since this is WP, you have to follow the policies and guidelines or an admin will block you sooner or later. WP is not your social media. Don't insert external links in the article text, per WP:EL it's not how we do it. Also, WP:BLP is important. Don't insert or reinsert info without an inline reference. And if WP:COI applies to you, don't edit the article at all, use the talkpage to suggest usable sources.
Basically, this article is supposed to be a summary of independent (of him, his employers etc) WP:RS about Geoff Garrett. Anything else is mostly outside WP:s scope and will be removed sooner or later. No cited sources, no content. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:29, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
Also, when you insert a ref, it must actually support the content. You inserted this:
"Geoff has been married to Janet (née Bennett) since 1972[1]."
References
and that doesn't work at all. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:40, 15 November 2021 (UTC)
Also also, never WP:COPYPASTE text from other websites etc and put it on WP. Earwig's Copyvio Detector. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:09, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Rewrite because potential copyright issue
- Thanks Gråbergs Gråa Sång! I've incorporated all of those sources into a (short) rewrite at Talk:Geoff Garrett/Temp. Please feel free to add to it or correct any errors I've made. We'll see where things go from here, I guess.Wikignome Wintergreentalk 01:27, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Wikignome Wintergreen Effing brilliant! I think we should replace the current article with this soonest, then take it from there (if there's good stuff to add). I guess the copyvio people have to do their stuff first. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 08:47, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
Potential copyright issue reviewer, note discussion at User talk:BlackTea, which includes a statement on "formal permission to use this information on his own wiki page". The current version is a WP:AUTO. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 09:13, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- I just noticed that the Royal Society of South Africa is notable by our standards, and apparently he's also a fellow of that institution. I can't access their website to confirm it at the moment, though; I'll look into it more tonight. Additionally, I know that our articles on academics often include a list of selected academic publications, but I have no idea how to find such things and determine whether they're notable enough to include. Anyone know? Wikignome Wintergreentalk 19:19, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- I also saw that the Australian Institute of Company Directors has a page, but it's, well, awful. I can't tell whether the organization - and therefore being a fellow of that organization - is actually notable. Wikignome Wintergreentalk 20:14, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hrm. The Royal Society website is actually not very helpful. Drat. Wikignome Wintergreentalk 00:46, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
