Front Range

edit

The Geography of Colorado describes the Front Range as extending from Wyoming to New Mexico. Properly, "Front Range" refers to the mountain range that extends from Mount Evans to Longs Peak. By extension, "Front Range" also refers to the area of the High Plains immediately to the east of the Front Range mountains.

The term "Front Range" does not refer to the entire Colorado Piedmont or the Colorado I-25 Corridor. We confuse people when we use this term improperly.

Formation?

edit

The article describes the Rio Grande Rift as a "major 'geological formation'" and links to geological formation elsewhere. The link is to the *correct* technical usage of formation, not to the common misuse of "formation" to describe anything for which a non-geologist does not know the real name.

The Rio Grande Rift is most easily described as a major structural and tectonic feature.Scmrak (talk) 16:28, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Antipodes

edit

Why do we have a section on antipodes? It is now ref'd to a "lat/long finder" subpage which doesn't seem to be a WP:RS. I would think we would need a reference that establishes notability for this bit of geo-nerd trivia for this article. Vsmith (talk) 12:56, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
