This is ridiculous: "Area - comparative: slightly less than twice the size of Arizona". But that doesn't tell you anything about Arizona in the first place. The comparison should be with something that falls in most people's common experience. Not only is that one US-centric, it is even something that has to be taught explicitly in US schools rather than arising naturally from people's ordinary unforced experiences. I would personally prefer something more on the lines of "about like most of Queensland reaching up into Cape York", because you can at least get feel for that from physical geography without needing to know political boundaries. PML.

I removed it. Feel free to edit as you see fit. silsor 00:49, Jan 15, 2004 (UTC)

Contradiction

edit

Where is the contradiction?

This page gives the figure of the island of Madagscar as 587,040 km², while the article on the state named after the island is also shown as 587,040 km². And so one must logically be wrong, since obviously the country is larger than its main island. See also Talk:List_of_islands_by_area for perspectives. //Big Adamsky 22:02, 1 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Why? What's wrong with the country occupying exactly the island and nothing more? I don't know the constitution or laws, but maybe it's explicitly defined as the island and nothing more? Anyway, I see no "logical wrong" here or there, only a case of suspiscious statistics, which is more deserving a {{verify}} or {{fact}} the {{contradict}}, especially when it contradicts with something ELSE, not the same articel. 68.39.174.238 22:12, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank goodness for this article. Looking at maps of Africa, I had always thought that it broken off of Africa where Mozambique is. Now, my theories are confirmed.-72.78.123.22 19:08, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

snow------

This is WRONG. Snow NEVER falls in the Ankaratra Massif, only in the Andrigintra Massif, which is more south. Correct it, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.220.173.25 (talk) 23:56, 26 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
