Knight is misleading

edit

Frundsberg wasn't a "knight" any more, he was in fact a German variant of a Condottieri, a so called "Landsknechtführer". Foreigner 08:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

He was properly knightes after a battle against the (late) Hussites. Knight was also a legal rank in the society of the Empire (most important a knight kept the right to wage war against other legal entities, eg cities) and thus the term is proper and fitting. He certainly also was a Landsknechtsführer, but that is not exclusive --ASchudak (talk) 22:39, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

A lot of this information has come from somewhere other than the Encyclopedia Britannica and needs to be properly referenced.

The sources in the German article cover pretty much all of the content - I will transfer them when I have an hour to spare.ASchudak (talk) 10:40, 18 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
