(1) It is extremely bad form to remove other people's comments on talk pages for whatever reason.
(2) The image in question is hosted on Commons. What matters for Wikipedia is U.S. law, in particular the precedent of Bridgeman vs Corel, whatever claims the N.P.G. might make under UK law. Furthermore, the Wikimedia Foundation has taken the view that images covered by Bridgeman vs Corel should be made available on Commons, because in its view this ought to be the law worldwide. If you disagree with the Foundation, take it up with them.
In the meantime we follow what the Foundation says. If the Foundation says it's usable, then we feel free to use it. Jheald (talk) 09:06, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

To Dormskirk: I see that you have spent a lot of effort improving this article and it is good work. However, the introduction paragraph has two sentences which are word for word copies of sentences from the text. The intro generally sums up the article. Could you rewrite the intro so that it is not a direct copy of part of the narrative? I won't tell you what to write but Lucan's political compromise regarding the Jews is also another topic important enough to be included in the intro and so is the fact that he became a field marshal. Thanks. I hope this is OK now. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 01:14, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Gday I've had a quick look and think it probably meets the B class criteria now so I've reassessed it now. Happy to discuss if anyone disagrees. All the best. Anotherclown (talk) 11:46, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
