The result of the move request was: page moved. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 14:47, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
George Davis (shortstop) → George Davis (baseball) –
- George Davis (baseball) currently re-directs to George Davis, a disamb page. The reason for the disamb was due to a George Davis (pitcher), which is now Iron Davis. There is no other MLB player by the name of George Davis. Neonblak talk - 21:25, 14 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support Seems uncontroversial. Not really sure a WP:RM was even necessary.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:34, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment: This was originally submitted as a technical move request, and I'm the one that asked it to go through more formal consideration. The other baseball player's article has been renamed, but that does not change the fact that there is more than one article that fits the description of "George Davis (baseball)". Therefore, this request is to move an article from an unambiguous name to an ambiguous one, which does not necessarily seem like an improvement to me, so I thought it should be discussed. To some extent, this seems like a WP:2DABS situation. If others think this move is appropriate, I don't object to it. However, in that case, adequate hatnoting will certainly be needed. —BarrelProof (talk) 17:04, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- FTR, I asked for this at WP:RM/TR, since I didn't think it would be controversial either :`)Neonblak talk - 17:15, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support As long as we leave one of those hatnotes that goes "For the pitcher, see Iron Davis, and for all other uses, see George Davis (disambiguation). – Muboshgu (talk) 13:23, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
