DOB in title
editHaving had a look through the MOS, and through the pages of other footballers, I can't see any precedent for the date of birth being in the title. Is it possible to rename the page to take the date out? LampGenie01 (talk) 14:41, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

George Dobson (footballer, born 1997) → George Dobson (footballer) – WP:PRECISION, and a lack of precedence in other articles about birth details being included in the title LampGenie01 (talk) 19:53, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- That article already exists??--Egghead06 (talk) 20:04, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Apparently another George Dobson played for Everton during the late 1800s. LampGenie01 (talk) 20:31, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- There's also a third one, George Dobson (footballer, born 1949), although this one (1997) does get the most views.[1] - Station1 (talk) 23:11, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Oh... Does that mean that having the year of birth in the title is ok when dealing with people with the same name? LampGenie01 (talk) 23:22, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Only when it's necessary to differentiate several people with the same name and occupation. See WP:NCPDAB. This actually happens not infrequently with footballers. See, for example, Category:English Football League players. - Station1 (talk) 23:41, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Ah ok. Is it ok for me to abandon the move request then? LampGenie01 (talk) 23:43, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
- Yes. I'll close it for you. Station1 (talk) 23:50, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
