Rumors of Fr. George Koovakad being appointed as Archbishop of Bombay

edit

Fr. George Koovakad is a priest of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. It would be very unusual for him to be appointed as a bishop of a Latin diocese such as the Archdiocese of Bombay. Sources within the Syro-Malabar Church say that he will remain in a position in the Holy See. Red Rocks and Sage Bush (talk) 18:45, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

It really shouldn't be difficult to allow two or more reporters' accounts to stand side by side. An experienced Vatican reporter says:

Koovakad has served in the Vatican's diplomatic service since 2006 and it would be highly unusual for him to remain in his current post upon being elevated as a cardinal. The 51-year-old native of Kerala, India, has been rumored as a potential successor to Bombay Cardinal Oswald Gracias, a longtime close adviser to Francis who will turn 80 in December, and, according to church law, loses his right to participate in a conclave.

I get that you don't agree and that you prefer a different source, but I see no reason to ignore the work of Christopher White at the National Catholic Reporter. He's a quality source and his reporting should be included at least until someone--someone other than you--says that the speculation he reports is not credible. Your perspective doesn't trump a quality source.
That's the last I'll say on the subject since you edit first and discuss afterwards, which is far from respectful. Rutsq (talk) 22:37, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
