GR the Steward for Southwark also MP for Southwark?
editA Sir George Rivers, likely son of the Lrd Mayor John Rivers, was knighted 1605, and Steward of Southwark - see the British History Online source, and "Rivers, George (RVRS571G)". A Cambridge Alumni Database. University of Cambridge. Glancing at Google books, this GR seems mentioned as MP for East Grinstead but not for Southwark. It's a common name, and not my period, so I have no way to judge these things.Dsp13 (talk) 21:46, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I think this George Rivers of Chafford, the son of John Rivers, husband of Frances Bower, and father of John Rivers, first baronet. The online sources aren't quite enough to put conclusions into the article yet. Charles Matthews (talk) 13:17, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
