Merger proposal

@Usako-M, Northern Escapee, AleatoryPonderings, and Fnorp:I propose to merge House of Hayla into George Sully. House of Hayla was co-created by Sully and doesn't have notability to justify its own article. Instead, I think its information should be on Sully's page as part of his promotion of black fashion designers. All contributors to "House of Hayla" and "George Sully" have been pinged, as suggested at WP:MERGE. Z1720 (talk) 19:25, 10 October 2020 (UTC)

Z1720, Good suggestion. I'm the one that tagged George Sully for notability; I'd like to be crystal clear on notability for the main article before starting a merge. Tbh it looks to me that Black Designers of Canada is more notable than Sully himself. When looking through the sources for Sully himself it seemed like most mentions were in the context of BDC. What are your/others' thoughts on Sully's notability in his own right, obviously keeping WP:BLP in mind? Might make sense to (selectively) merge everything to BDC, in my tentative view. I think Sully is notable. [1] says his designs were used on Star Trek: Discovery and featured in the Bata Shoe Museum, fulfilling WP:NARTIST C4 while [2] profiles Sully. I also think the numerous articles about Sully creating Black Designers of Canada fulfils WP:ANYBIO C2 as this organisation's creation is a widely recognised contribution to indexing and promoting black designers. I have merged and redirected House of Hayla. I can also work on merging Sully Wong. Can I go ahead and do so? There is the nomination for deletion tag on that page so I was not sure if I can go ahead with the merge with that tag there. Please advise. Thanks. Usako-M, You can't merge Sully Wong yet because it's being considered for deletion, but it will probably close as merge or redirect so we can do that one quite soon. Just checking: it looks like this edit did not actually introduce any new content into George Sully. Was there anything else from House of Hayla worth including? AleatoryPonderings, no it was all duplicate material so there was nothing to bring over to the George Sully page. Okay, I will await the closure of the deletion discussion for the Sully Wong page to see if a merge is decided.Usako-M (talk) 01:40, 18 October 2020 (UTC)Usako-M
