In GSPs filmography there is a missing ref. to a documentary called 'The Striking Truth" 2010 he appears in with David Loiseau. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1630565/ Thank you for considering this edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neuroendosci1 (talkcontribs) 23:00, 11 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Infobox weight

edit

The weight is 185 since his last fight was at 185 and he won the championship, 170 in the notes anyways so why revert it . It’s in the notes and the Sherdog source is there . Don’t see why would you feel the need to revert . It’s the same situation with Dan Henderson’s height . It’s better to have a note with all possible reliable sources and avoid an edit war— Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikiman122112 (talkcontribs) 11:22, 29 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

so there was an attempt to change gsp's weight before ... how biased you are nedochan Legendstreak0 (talk) 10:22, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
now is a good time to change the weight . according to the user cassiopeia "For the weight issue here, we normally use Sherdog.com to information can be found in Sherdog.com fighter page for the infobox section. Any inform that cant be found from Sherdog will be taken from other source. As for the weight, we always put the weight class of the last fight of the fighter fought" so i think this is pretty clear now on how the weight should be in this article , sherdog hasn't updated the weight which should be 185 since his last fight was at 185 and just like you did (nedochan) to the mcgregor page , an espn source is added Legendstreak0 (talk) 10:22, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
and not to mention gsp was a CHAMPION AT 185 Legendstreak0 (talk) 10:23, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
GSP was a welterweight. This article makes that clear.NEDOCHAN (talk) 10:25, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

nonsense , he was a middleweight too , did you not see his fight with mike bisping ?! he was the champLegendstreak0 (talk) 10:26, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sherdog failed to update his weight , Putting 170 in the infobox would be unconstructive for the new mma fans , it should be 185 . His last fight was at 185 and he is a 185 pound champion , stay up to date , if we were in 2013-2016 then yes 170 would’ve been fine but it should’ve been 185 for the past 3 years now since his last fight vs Michael bisping Legendstreak0 (talk) 10:31, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK. That's your view. But the fact that you're permanently banned from Wikipedia and a sockpuppet of wikiman won't help.NEDOCHAN (talk) 10:36, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I don’t know hat you are talking about , stop changing the subject. This is about gsp now . Don’t change his weight. All I said so far makes perfect sense about his weight and Cassiopeia mentioned it all in the cm talk page , and by the way you got reported Legendstreak0 (talk) 11:07, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
What another editor said on a different page is irrelevant.NEDOCHAN (talk) 11:25, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
no, it applies to all Ufc fighters Legendstreak0 (talk) 14:46, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, it doesn't.NEDOCHAN (talk) 09:32, 24 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
yes it does, according to Nil Einne : “The RfC clearly found that Sherdog needs to be used with caution and that higher quality sources like ESPN are preferred. Given that, it's fine to replace Sherdog with ESPN, especially in the case where there is a contradiction between Sherdog and ESPN or some other high quality source. What editors have been doing in the past should now be treated as the past. As always, editors need to follow any evolving consensus” so I suggest you be quiet and follow the rules , if Sherdog fails to update wiki shouldn’t be like it Legendstreak0 (talk) 15:49, 24 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Under "Return and Retirement", it states "White was critical of Woodley's performance in his last two fights and with Robert Whittaker". This is incorrect, not only was Dana White referring to Woodley's single fight with UFC fighter Damian Maia, Tyron Woodley has never even fought Robert Whittaker in the first place. This is even proven by looking at the linked source. Wyill (talk) 04:04, 8 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

under "training" or perhaps "early life" could include that "In the early 2000s he trained and competed in freestyle wrestling with the Montreal Wrestling Club. He competed at the 2002 and 2003 Concordia Invitational wrestling tournament as an 82 kg wrestler, placing second on both occasions."[1][2] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2604:3D09:137A:81B0:6831:BA6B:20CC:825B (talk) 20:11, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I also came across a youtube video from what might be one of the Concordia tournaments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9WrbiZBsig . Perhaps could add that as an additional reference?

GOAT status

edit

Hello. I'm pinging Thebighomie123 here due to the statement of claiming GSP is the greatest MMA fighter ever versus saying he is one of the greatest instead. Most of the sources cited for that claim say he is "one of the greatest".

I believe we should say he is "one of the greatest" of all time versus claiming he is THE greatest of all time.

"Georges St-Pierre, one of the greatest and most popular MMA fighters of all time, is expected to announce his retirement on Thursday at a news conference in Montreal." (Guardian)

"..."that makes St-Pierre the greatest mixed martial artist of all time." (ESPN)

"...He’s one of the greatest of all-time, ‘put Canada on the MMA map’" (BloodyElbow)

" is considered to be one of the greatest fighters in MMA history." (TalkSport)

"...His GOAT status may not be unanimous, but it isn't exactly a hot take, either." (BleachReport)

"...As Mike Armstrong explains, GSP goes out as one of the greatest fighters to ever enter the octagon." (Global News)

  • Hello Thebighomie123 - I am reaching out to you regarding your changes to the article on May 7th, which were made without consensus. Please note that the changes you implemented do not support the sources cited. Specifically, it is more accurate to refer to GSP as "one of the greatest" rather than "the greatest" ever. This likely applies to other MMA profiles as well, as there is no consensus among sources about a single "greatest" fighter due to the sport's multiple weight classes, eras, and other factors. Reach out if you have any questions. Morogris () 14:18, 23 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

New section:Fighting Style

edit

I think we should add a new section to the GSP article, similar to the Khabib talking about fighting style. Thebighomie123 (talk) 13:37, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

“Defeated every opponent he has ever faced”?

edit

What? GSP has lost twice in his career, including losing his title to Matt Hughes in 2004 and Matt Sera in 2007. I find V to be V (talk) 18:35, 22 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes he has two losses, but has avenged both. He defeated Matt Hughes twice and defeated Matt Serra in the rematch. Therefore, the statement ‘has defeated every opponent he has ever faced’ is accurate. I am not stating he won every fight, nor am I stating he is undefeated.
