editApologies for the questionable material. I have removed most of the article and replaced with a stub. The article will get revised and replaced when it meets quality standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Greg.Hartley (talk • contribs) 23:15, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
George Hoppendale & Asia Moore
editAnything created by George Hoppendale and Asia Moore about a dog breed or crossbreed is far from reliable, the pair have retitled a standard book as a "Complete Owners Guide" for every breed or crossbreed imaginable, scroll through the first 15 pages here (that's when I stopped, I'm sure it goes on). Accordingly I have removed the book as a source. Cavalryman (talk) 23:55, 28 September 2020 (UTC).
Notability
editHello Whispyhistory, I have looked and cannot find sufficient coverage in reliable sources to establish notability of this as an independent article, the single source for the crossbreed that we do have (and it is not great) is already used to cite the cross at List of dog crossbreeds and it does not provide WP:SIGCOV. The FBI article falls well short, it does not even mention the portmanteau. Unless you have access to additional sources, can I suggest you return this article to a redirect? Cavalryman (talk) 06:03, 29 September 2020 (UTC).
- Sure @Cavalryman:...I'll have a look and will return it as you say if I can't find anything either. If you know of any reputable websites or books, please let me know. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:09, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- All of the best books that discuss dog crossbreeds (that I know of) are included at List of dog crossbreeds#Bibliography, unfortunately none mention this cross. Regards, Cavalryman (talk) 06:45, 29 September 2020 (UTC).

- ... that the FBI's first therapy dog was a Gerberian Shepsky named Dolce (pictured)?
- ALT1:... that ...?

- Date created from a redirect fine, as is the length. The hook cite needs to be inline. There are several problem citiation tags and also the GNG tag at the top which will need to be sorted @Philafrenzy: and @Whispyhistory:. A QPQ is also needed. The picture licence is fine but the image is not currently in the article. No close paraphrasing. But these issues need sorting before I can pass it. The C of E God Save the Queen! - Some users are trying to have this dog put-down and buried in the pet cemetery of list of cross-breeds with a short obituary. In pursuit of this they have thrown every tag they can think of at the article but I think there's life in this dog yet. Philafrenzy (talk) 17:55, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
- That is because there is not one WP:RELIABLE source that uses this name. "Some users" do not want Wikipedia to become a laughing stock. Refer Talk:Gerberian Shepsky#Did you know nomination - the issue has not been resolved. William Harris (talk) 04:10, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- It may be the Common Name now. That's how it works - someone makes up a common name and some of them gain traction and stick. Even if not, the article can easily be moved to "German Shepherd-Huskie cross" or something similar. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:23, 11 October 2020 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy, your response above appears to be an admission that it may be WP:TOOSOON for this as an independent article. Cavalryman (talk) 09:35, 13 October 2020 (UTC).
- You are confused. My comment was about the article title. Toosoon relates to notability which matter was settled in the AFD. Philafrenzy (talk) 10:02, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- No, notability was not established for this article at AfD, please show me where it was. There is one source. Cavalryman (talk) 10:09, 13 October 2020 (UTC).
- Nine sources in the article. Philafrenzy (talk) 12:08, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- Philafrenzy I have no desire for conflict, the sources just don’t stack up. Only one uses the name and comes close to WP:SIGCOV, the other eight are fleeting mentions three of which are inconsistent with the definition of this crossbreed. Cavalryman (talk) 22:04, 13 October 2020 (UTC).

There is no reference which states "that the FBI's first therapy dog was a Gerberian Shepsky named Dolce". That remains a fact. Therefore, that statement should not appear as a DYK. William Harris (talk) 09:15, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- Note that the article currently has notability and merge tags, so the nomination can't be passed until those are resolved. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:35, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Whispyhistory and Philafrenzy: Any updates on this? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:29, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Whispyhistory and Philafrenzy: As there has been no response from either of you over the past few weeks in spite of multiple pings, the nomination may be marked for closure within the next few days if neither of you can comment here and respond to the existing concerns. - @Narutolovehinata5:...waiting to see if article is kept/deleted/redirected or has a change in name. Whispyhistory (talk) 06:06, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Whispyhistory: Given that the nomination is now one of the oldest remaining ones and little progress has been made, the nomination may be closed as stale unless the non-merge request-related concerns are not addressed. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:30, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Narutolovehinata5, the merger discussion has been closed as merge and the merger has been restored, this should probably be closed. Kind regards, Cavalryman (talk) 00:56, 8 November 2020 (UTC).

- Based on the cited reference, no the dog wasn't a "Gerberian Shepsky". A GERman siBERIAN SHEPherd huSKY - the name is dubious. As per WP:REDFLAG, "Any exceptional claim requires multiple high-quality sources". The WP:NOTABILITY of this topic is not being met, and there does not appear to be WP:RELIABLE sources providing significant coverage per WP:SIGCOV. William Harris (talk) 23:49, 5 October 2020 (UTC)
- I agree someone just made up that name but a Google search indicates it is obtaining traction so it may indeed be the common name for this mix. Someone has to name new things and sometimes those names stick. There does appear to be a logic to it. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:32, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
- This is the English-speaking world's online encyclopedia and a search of the rubbish on the internet does not cut it. We do not create articles based on what someone proposes on the internet, or on what someone believes might be the way of the future. Where are the WP:RELIABLE sources that use this name?
