This article contains a translation of Gerhard Zimmer (Archäologe) from de.wikipedia. |
I've machine-translated and then edited the text across from the German Wikipedia entry at de:Gerhard Zimmer (Archäologe), attempting to preserve information where I can. I've also found that the Professor's page at the Catholic University website seems to be the basic structure and source to a lot of what I'd translated across, so I've added this as a supporting reference and translated some of the research focus specified there. I've also used a 'person' infobox, so that Zimmer's professorship and alma mater could be added.
I removed this while translating, due to lack of sourcing and some potential weasel-words if an editor isn't careful:
“ | Zimmer is considered one of the world's most-recognized experts on ancient bronzes and their production. In addition, among the ancient terra cottas to his subjects. Following an interdisciplinary approach in his research, Zimmer writes on ancient sources and the knowledge of ancient history through to the culture and history of technology. For many years, Zimmer was secretary of the club of the Friends of the Ancient World at the Museum Island Berlin eV and is a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute. |
” |
Nonetheless, I've kept it here as, with sourcing and some editing, it could add to the article.
In terms of rating against the B-class criteria, I think that apart from fully in-line citing the career history, the main issue holding this back from B-class is the need for more content. To that end, I'm going to be dropping posts on the walls of contributors whom I believe may be able to help. There are yet a few things I haven't done that I intend, mainly around the publications list, but which include:
- Updating the publications list based on new publications listed on the Professor's University page;
- Possibly editing the publications list over to Harvard style (personal preference, so I'll have a look before I apply it;
- Reading through Google Scholar and other sources to perhaps get a sense of his work directly, if anything is available on my side of the paywell (i.e. the free side);
- Finding interviews with Prof. Dr. Zimmer, or any other biographical pieces.
- Also translating the German article on de:Paul Zanker, Prof. Dr. Zanker, Zimmer's supervisor, as the redlink shows that his page is currently absent.
Of course, and as always, other contributions are welcome. That is what this place is for, after all. − Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 02:58, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
