Please help

I saw this entry on the pages needing to be wikified. The original author of this never provided sources, so I have no idea how to validate this information because I am not an expert on the topic. Can anyone point me in a direction where I can attempt to verify this information? Furthermore, is this a copyright violation? It looks like it was copy/pasted right into wikipedia. What is going on here?

I'm sorry, but I'm really baffled as to the reason for deleting this information. I'm pretty sure everything is reliably sourced, as I wrote it myself after reading the sources, which I've provided in-line citations for. I'm still not sure whether I'm being unclear or you're being recreationally obtuse.

I was hoping that after making such drastic changes, you'd be willing to come to the talk page and articulate your concerns more meaningfully, preferably with specific examples of passages that concern you and explanations why you feel the provided citations are insufficient.

Having personally taken the time to collect those sources and tailor the article to match them, I have a pretty high degree of confidence in all the content that you ripped out. That's why I'm asking for something a little more substantive than mindless repetition of BLP policy. An explanation of how you purport to apply that policy seems like a reasonable expectation. Yes, Wiki asks for a higher standard of sourcing for a living person, but it's the major newspaper in the area, so this meets the heightened criteria, IMO. I will say that your addition doesn't appear to directly tie the project's bankruptcy to Trejo. From your addition, it looks as though Trejo proposed the center, and then the center couldn't get enough funding and went bankrupt. However, when I looked at the article, it seems that people are directly blaming Trejo for this failure (rightfully or not.) Reverted IP edits

Hi there. You messaged me on my talk page asking about the reason for my reversion of your recent edits.

The information you added was deleted because it was not accompanied by citations to reliable sources that support the claims you made.

For instance, you said that Trejo was born in Morelia, but you didn't provide any documentation to support that claim. Until you have that documentation from a reliable source, that information can't be included. You also said he went to Ohio State University, but did not provide any documentation to support that claim.

Of course, the article already says that Trejo graduated from OSU, so your addition was also redundant.

Give me a hand

I am going to be adding a lot of information to the Trejo page that I have accumulated. Since you are obviously a very experienced Wiki editor, I would really appreciate you giving me a hand at fleshing out the information. Over the next couple of days I will be putting in the info and it would be really great if you can help me to cite things. All of the information that I have is verified either on the internet of by interviews that I have had with Trejo personally. How can I reference that?

I am writing a book on notable Latinos. I am a freelance writer-journalist, I am particularly interested in Latino political leaders, so that is why I contacted Trejo and asked for an interview, which he gracefully granted. When doing research I found the Wiki page and as I have done a bit of wiki editing and writing here and there over the years. Thanks for the heads of about logging in. I often forget to do that and occasionally log in from the office and well as home. Due to filters in place and such I have to use different accounts. BLP

Following on from the request for page protection, I wonder whether this page is a WP:BLP1E violation. The only notability is a relatively minor, and negative, local business issue from 2007. Sarah (SV) ^(talk) 19:17, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

I guess it would depend on how you define "one event." Trejo's notability derives almost entirely from Centro Mexicano, but there were several different events related to it that were the subject of coverage -- its founding, its development, its funding problems, and its eventual bankruptcy. I can imagine a way to argue that all of that is a single event, but I at least wouldn't read it that way.

Besides that, there's also news coverage of him based on his activities at Ohio State, and also some other coverage that confers notability, but just isn't in the article now. — Bdb484 (talk) 17:39, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi Bdb, I've added full protection because of the reverting. Because neither version was BLP compliant, I've spliced the best of the two. This is just a makeshift solution for the protection period.

Looking ahead, I would suggest moving this to Draft:Germán Trejo to make sure it's comprehensive in terms of anything notable, and that everything is properly sourced and fair. Then perhaps consider nominating it for AfD if notability apart from that bankruptcy can't be established.

Two issues: his name here (p. 140) is Germán Gilberto Trejo Caballero. If he has formally dropped Caballero, that's fine, but the middle name might be worth adding. Also, File:German Trejo.jpg was published in 2006 by Columbus Business First, and uploaded to WP in 2007. That might suggest it isn't free. The biography consisted almost entirely of a local bankruptcy from eight years ago, so it ran into BLP1E and WP:COATRACK problems. If the bankruptcy really is the only notable thing, deletion might be the better option. If there are other notable issues, they should be added, but you said above there are remaining negative issues.

If I were writing this article, I would email the subject and ask whether he wants it, bearing in mind that it's going to contain any negative material that was been reliably published. If he doesn't want it, I would probably take it to AfD and tell people there that the subject has requested deletion. Sarah (SV) ^(talk) 18:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
