editIs it true that the recipient must pay for the costs of presenting this award? (OTOH, I can understand making the honoree pick up the tab for the banquet; it's an effective way to limit the number of attendees who must be fed. :-)
Personally, I have neither the time nor interest to research this myself, but it was mentioned in the Award article, which is what brought me here in the first place ... I found and added a link to the official website, but that's as much lipstick as I feel like putting on this pig. —72.75.70.147 01:16, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
DELETION REQUEST: Wrong/Misleading title
editThe "Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany" is different from the "German Design Award". It's TWO prizes. --Thomas Maier (talk) 15:21, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- This article should either be removed (is now Design_Award_Germany) or re-written for the other prize from http://www.german-design-council.de/nc/designpreise/german-design-award/2014.html. --Thomas Maier (talk) 15:38, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- Just to repeat here what I said at the AfD and on User:Thmonline's talk page: the situation is a bit confusing because a second award has recently been created and both have changed names. I've tried to make this clearer in the last paragraph of the article and created appropriate redirects. But I don't think the new award merits its own article yet, and I think the title German Design Award is the clearest for English-speaking readers, until that second one (which is now using that name) establishes itself and earns its own article or we get English-language sources using the German name for the older award. - May I suggest to change the title into "German Design Awards" to stress that there is more than one and to draw the attention of readers on the difference between the federal and the commercial "German Design Award"? --Dalchini (talk) 10:10, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Change name of the article
editHello there, I am working for the German Design Council and we are officially hosting the German Design Award since 2012. This article is misleading, because it refers to a different Award: The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) which existed from 2002 to 2014 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Designpreis_der_Bundesrepublik_Deutschland
Therefor, I would like to edit this article and rename it to: The Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany. After that, I would like to create a new article about the German Design Council, which would of course also mention the German Design Award. https://www.german-design-award.com/
