The Norse word "Hof" as temple related to 'chieftain' "hofthing" as head of temple.
editThough, it seems cognate with Chief/Chieftain, Captain / (German) Hauptmann; meaning "head" and 'hof' thus meaning "head" as well. Nagelfar (talk) 10:44, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
