Some sources say that Emiliani was born in 1486, including the group of schools that originated from the Brotherhood of Emiliani (see end of school documentation: ). Also some other references: History of Monastary: http://inventaris.vioe.be/dibe/relict/15106 Somascans: http://www.somascans.org/St.Jerome.htm - Mentions 1486 News involving Emiliani: http://www.catholic.net/index.php?option=zenit&id=33299 Some history in french, mentioning his history in the army: http://www.worldlingo.com/ma/enwiki/fr/Gerolamo_Emiliani

The Pope mentions in 1986 that Emilani was born 500 years ago, hence born in 1486: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/letters/1986/documents/hf_jp-ii_let_19860111_chierici-regolari_it.html

I would expect that the Vatican and that the institutions descending from the inspiration of Emiliani have the facts right and that the birth date is 1486 (and not 1481).

Also see http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi%C3%ABronymus_Emiliani to make sure that the articles agree. 82.240.173.104 (talk) 00:07, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
