editMost of this article is about German history, not about Bleichroder himself. Paulhummerman (talk) 11:57, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
- Agreed. This article really doesn't tell much about Bleichröder. You never know from this article that Bleichröder's banking skills made Bismarck a rich man, through it must be admitted that some of the things that he would be illegal today. Under the Treaty of Frankfurt which ended the war with France in 1871, France had to pay reparations to the newly unified Reich, and Bismark made certain most of the reparations were funneled through Bleichröder's bank. Today, that would be considered a major violation of conflict of interest laws, and criminal charges would be laid. This article does not mention any of this at all, nor the fact that Bleichröder was never Bismarck's friend. The world of an Orthodox Jew and the world of a Junker were too far apart. This is a really terrible article that needs to be reworked.--A.S. Brown (talk) 04:39, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Indeed, this article needs a rework. I happen to now own the main book about him by Fritz Stern (albeit in German translation), and would eventually like to improve this article. However, that book is a solid 700+ pages (!), and I really don't have time to read that much about him atm. So if anyone else has more time, they should not hesitate to start the task. Just leaving this here so I might remember it when I have time. --LordPeterII (talk) 20:10, 27 November 2020 (UTC)
