Mahasiddha

edit

The source provided does not verify that the Dalai Lama recognized him as a Mahasiddha: The title of the page was not written by the Dalai Lama but rather by the site editors. The word "mahasiddha" is not used at all in the text actually written by the Dalai Lama. This appears to be someone attempting to put words in the Dalai Lama's mouth and does not verify the claim. Find a better source: currently the Mahasiddhas category is only for the renowned 84 Mahasiddhas. Skyerise (talk) 17:13, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

The title of the document was actually written by the Dalai Lama. I understand your concern; I had the same question myself and it was not until I saw the document reproduced elsewhere that I fully understood that the Dalai Lama wrote the title. It is his official heading of his official document (the same as any official heading of any head of state, whether that be the White House or any other official head of state). Another reproduction of the letter is on page 6 [EDIT: looks to be page 5] of Tenzin Gopa's book Precious Holy Child of Gopan, which is viewable in free ebook form on the internet (if you Google that title in quotes). The URL is www.tenzinzopa.com/Ebooks/PHC%20of%20Kopan.doc . The book also includes two other quotes from the Dalai Lama, on pp. 34 and 36, which confirm. I will add this book as an additional citation. Softlavender (talk) 19:47, 24 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
