I am adding a few links here as reference material. I have not attempted to disseminate all of the information, but they do pertain to the Getty Villa.
Here is one illustrative reference to the claim of location. It does not substantiate any claims you have made about "...frequently and erroneously said to be in the city of Malibu." For that you must find a published source that actualy makes that claim. However it adequately references the location alone. That's not only a good start but means there well may be a source similar to your claim out there somewhere! =)
Everything Family Guide to the Disneyland Resort, California Adventure ... By Betsy Malloy
One more, just for good measure (location).
Opportunities in performing arts careers By Bonnie Bjorguine Bekken
Now the following reference DOES state that: "The Malibu Villa (which is actually located in Pacific Palisades, in the City of Los Angeles) is a reconstruction ..." on page 131. While you cannot see a preview, all the information needed is intact. Title, author, and page number. You will need to gather the publishing info, date and ISBN number here. [1] As you will of course, have to do with all book references.
