editI recently purchased 12 ounce bags of Gevalia whole bean and ground coffee from a Safeway on the Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area on about 4/2/2012. It appears that Gevalia has extended their sales and marketing to a large grocery chain. I don't know anything further about this but it appears that the main article is not up to date on US sales and marketing. Figlinus (talk) 19:49, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I have had the Braun coffee maker for 2 years and found the Gevalia coffee to be very good. However, for the last 6 months I have had problems finding the T-cups in stock anywhere. The orders I received off their web site were outdated and their answer to this was that it was an arbitrary date and to ignore it. Now the stores I have been using are not stocking the coffee any more and have sent back the coffee makers to the factory. Any ideas as to what is going on. Bed, Bath and Beyond have said that they will refund my money so I think I will do that.

Delicious coffee! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.198.204.4 (talk • contribs)
- I agree. Anyway, started in 1920, but sold 120 years later (in 1971)? That line needs some clarification. Alcuin 18:01, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
USA Equivalent
editThen entry mentions that Gevalia is a mainstream supermarket brand in Europe. Would it be the equivalent of Folger's marketing itself as an ultra-premium brand overseas? --24.249.108.133 00:55, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
Not really, Gevalia is seen as a very good coffee in Sweden and the Swedish coffee culture is seen in Sweden as something of very high standard. So I guess it makes sense to sell it as a super premium coffee in a part of the world where most coffee is of poor standard. I myself only realized how good Gevalia was when they started selling Lavazza and Illy everywhere (italian/american cafe boom).79.136.48.186 (talk) 18:19, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Pronunciation
editHow does one pronounce "Gevalia?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.227.127.12 (talk • contribs)
I'm not sure about the Swedish pron., but in Danish we pronounce both A's like the A in Apple. 2nd syllable stressed (ge-VA-li-a). I assume the stressed syllable VA in Swedish is more like VO in VOlume and the last A like A in After.
The G has the G-sound as in Go, not the DJ-sound as in George Eventually try ask on the swedish talk page?
i used to work for Gevalia (unfortunately). they told us it was pronounced (jav-All-ya). the "jav" part being as in "javalin" —Preceding unsigned comment added by User:Kawligasdaddy (talk • contribs)

Gevalia is Spamming Again?
editI'm seeing evidence that Gevalia may have started spamming again.
Has anyone else seen similar examples?
Unfortunately, I don't see much evidence in the news.admin.net-abuse.sightings group. Maybe nobody bothers to post spam there any more.
Here's an obfuscated example from my spam folder:

Gevalia Spam ... 2011
editReferencing the above comments from 2008 about Gevalia starting to spam again -- from the perspective of someone who owns several domains and has for many years -- there has never been an extended period of time when I was NOT receiving spam about Gevalia. I got a few today. seedclose.info was the domain for the page that redirected to Gevalia. Anyway, we're not here to hunt down spammers. I wonder what it would take to document the extent of Gevalia spam sufficiently to warrant tarring the company (further) here for bad behavior. Personally, I find them sufficiently irritating that I think regularly about writing/blogging about them (though of course never take the time to do so.) I mention it here for anecdotal/informational purposes -- it is now 2011, and Gevalia spam remains common. Whether it is third party/affiliate marketing, the company itself, whatever ... I don't know. AuthJeff (talk) 23:29, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Balance ?
Sure glad that controversies regarding spam and product recalls are mentioned at the very bottom of the article. The rest reads like marketing script straight from the company. Such lavish praise doesn't belong in an encyclopedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.51.185.47 (talk) 12:32, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Gevalia. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20120210224144/http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml12/12107.html to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml12/12107.html

"The royal warrant for coffee roasters"?
editThe article currently says: "Gevalia holds the royal warrant for coffee roasters from H.M. the King of Sweden". This would mean that there is only one company that can hold a royal warrant for coffee roasters in Sweden at any time. Does anyone have a source for that claim? If no one comes up with a source, I will (if I remember it; others are of course welcome to do it) change the sentence to "Gevalia holds a royal warrant from H.M. the King of Sweden". --Jhertel (talk) 10:45, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
Teas
editThe intro says that the company discontinued its teas, but the article continues to talk about teas in the present tense. Does the article just need a copy edit? Or did the company resume selling tea? Or is the intro just wrong? --Khajidha (talk) 17:18, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
