Portrait
editThe painting by Giuio Romano (school of Raphael) is no longer thought to be a portrait of Giovanna (more commonly called Jeanne d'Aragon). It's hard to see why it ever was as the painting was groundbreakingly sensuous for its time and Giovanna was barely sixteen years old and unmarried at the times of its commission: even the free falling locks of hair would have been unthinkable. It's now thought to be a portrait of Doña Isabel de Requesens, a celebrated beauty of the time married to Ramón de Cardona, viceroy of Naples. See the notes at this file Commons:File:Giulio Romano (school of Raphael) - Portrait of Doña Isabel de Requesens - Louvre 612 Joconde 000PE026978.jpg for more info.
I don't want to make an edit somewhere I don't normally contribute, but editors here might like to consider replacing it with some other image. Coat of Many Colours (talk) 13:53, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
