Title
editShould this be moved back to her pre-marital title Giovanna of Savoy. I can understand a certain amount of time should lapse before moving a consort, but I think five years is enough. Any ideas?Prsgoddess187 13:14, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
It was there. And o avoid Italian POV - after all, she is well-known as "Ioanna" in Bulgarian-originated view (compare the name of a certain hospital and whatever) - moved it ultimately to Joanna, which is neither, but the English variant. Suedois 15:23, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Giovanna of Bulgaria
editI had to make a major change in the article:Queen Giovanna never converted to the Eastern Orthodox Church.King Boris III married Giovanna in a Roman Catholic ceremony in Assisi;Boris promised to raises any children as Roman Catholics.Instead,Boris had an Eastern Orthodox ceremony performed and the children were baptized in the Eastern Orthodox Church;this got Queen Giovanna and Archbishop Roncalli in trouble with Pope Pius XI.Eventually, the Pope realized King Boris was at fault not Queen Giovanna or Archbishop Roncalli who became Pope John XXIII.RFD 21:03, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
That branch of Saxe-Coburgs, the so-called Kohary, were roman catholics, before Bulgarian monarchy. Only because of Bulgarian national majority being Orthodox, they were (compelled?) to be the same. Their marriages were always with roman-catholics. One may just think that they never renounced roman-catholic basis. I would like to know more about Boris' decision: was it superficial only, or was he a devout orthodox?
- Boris was converted as a child to the Orthodox faith, so he must have grown up as an Orthodox Christian.--The Emperor's New Spy (talk) 06:27, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
Joanna?
editSomehow I think that this women was never refer to by this name at all. You can't translate Giovanna and Ioanna and make it Joanna just because it's the straight English translation. Why not the quintessentially English Joan? Also the "of Place" part needs some discussion also. Should it be Italy, Savoy, or Bulgaria?--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 02:46, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Giovanna of Italy → Giovanna of Savoy – There were no Princes or Princesses “of Italy”, rather “of Savoy”, hence this is a misnomer. Because of that, the move is supported by WP:CONSISTENT. Estar8806 (talk) 03:51, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
