DNA testing?
editThis is news to me. As far as I can tell from googling it, the results of the DNA testing are still pending. The DSE merely stated his opinion that it didnt look like puma fur. Could we have a reference please? -- Rkundalini 13:27, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- That came from a NZ Herald report - "But Hans Brunner, who tested the animal’s hair for Victoria’s Department of Sustainability and Environment, told Melbourne’s Herald Sun that it came from a moggy." - Cnwb 21:56, 16 October 2005 (UTC)
- Hmmm I agree the wording could be interpreted that way, but given that in the original Herald-Sun story that the NZ Herald cites, there is no mention of DNA testing until much later in the article, and Brunner cites physical characteristics of the hair as proof against being from a puma, I don't think DNA testing has yet been performed. I've modified the article. --Rkundalini 03:23, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. Now that I re-read the sentence, I can see how I minconstrued it. Cnwb 23:07, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Myth?
editStatement from the disambiguation page about myth:
Something mythical is, however, typically considered false.
This article calls the theory about puma mascots being released a myth. Isn't that POV? Aleksei 07:31, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Merge
editIn my opinion this article should not be merged. It discusses a specific geographically-limited manifestation of the "phantom big cat" phenomenon that is well known in the country of origin under that name - similar to Blue Mountains panther. It is better to deal with these manifestations in separate articles - in the same way that we do with other presumed geographically-limited but similar cryptids such as Yeti, Yowie and Bigfoot. --Gene_poole 11:48, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Suggested link
editHello all,
I have an article which I've written which calculated the length of this cat from head to tip of tail. My conclusion was that this is in fact a world record sized domestic feral cat. It's probably not appropriate for me to link to my own website though, so I'll suggest it here and leave it to other authors of this article to consider its inclusion: http://www.wherelightmeetsdark.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=27
Sourcing
editPlease note our policy that editors wishing to return material to articles must provide proper sourcing for each claim: WP:BURDEN. Editors who repeatedly return material without proper sourcing are being disruptive and may be blocked. -- The Red Pen of Doom 12:47, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah??!!
YOU have no right to block.
Leave other editors alone wikibully!--141.209.134.213 (talk) 12:50, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is a collaborative effort. I do not have to block. If vandalism and other blockable offences continue to occur after people have been given notice and failed to correct their behavior, bocks will be given.
- However this page is for the discussion of how to improve the article, not to call people bullies.-- The Red Pen of Doom 16:25, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- Without Prejudice The Red Pen of Doom a large number of wiki admins have been bullies and cowboys whipping out all sorts of rules and regulations in the past. I find this rather ironic that you object being called a "bully" when your name has the appearance of wanting to edit or correct other people's comments without concerns to their contribution. Please note that this is a legend or myth. It is a recent myth spanning less than a century and therefore facts are very subjective. I ask you as admin to consider the people's response as many are bottom of the ladder contributors that are willing to contribute before you instantly release your "red pen of doom". --Throttler (talk) 23:57, 21 August 2012 (UTC)
