standard phone
editI would like to see something about how Gizmo is a SIP using standard phone.. It is. You can call to the new SIP enabled gnomemeeting for instance from it. There has been some instructions around.. It's important with Gizmo. They provide their "Gizmo accounts" and stuff, but they do not object bypassing their stuff at all actually.
- Addressed by "Since Gizmo5 is based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), it can inter-operate with other SIP-based networks directly..." --IReceivedDeathThreats (talk) 15:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Gizmo5 mobile
editThis has a different feature set; should have a section on this page. e.g. Do both the destop and mobile app support SIP (i.e. phone calls at data rates from a cellphone)? --IReceivedDeathThreats (talk) 15:29, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Iphox
editTake a look at iphox.com. The site is almost an exact clone of Gizmo Project]. This leads me to believe that they're in the process of changing their name/brand (but I can't write speculation on the main article). - File:Ottawa flag.png nathanrdotcom (T • C • W) 19:17, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Security Features?
editCould someone please add a section briefly discussing the security of Gizmo? Are calls encrypted? What algorithms do they use? etc.
Peer-to-peer?
editWhat is the justification for describing Gizmo Project as a "peer-to-peer VoIP network"? While the voice traffic is transmitted directly between peers, it is certainly not a pure peer-to-peer network since the SIP signaling goes through a central server at company's premises. Unless there are objections, I feel inclined to change the article to reflect this.--Teemuk 07:06, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that Gizmo is not a pure peer to peer, those are quite rare. Skype is called p2p, but it still needs central servers to work. I don't know if a totally decentralized communications program exists (yet). It isn't a pure client/server model either like Festoon, where all the traffic flows through a central server. Spin offs
editDoes anyone know anything about the spin off www.gizmocall.com and gizmosms.com and any details about them? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.92.246.41 (talk • contribs) 19:20, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- Here are the initial press releases announcing Gizmo Call[1] and Gizmo SMS[2]. I'm sure someone will do some more research on it. Dancter 19:28, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Trouble with Call-in/Virtual Numbers?
editDoes anybody have articles featuring Gizmo's virtual numbers and customer service at hand? Re: Gizmo Project Bug Reports [[3]]
Fair use rationale for Image:Gizmo Project Gear.svg
editImage:Gizmo Project Gear.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
