This page is not unreasonable in that, despite what has been said, the main page on Glasgow does not state or clarify sufficiently that Glasgow is not in Lanarkshire. The main page is reasonably accurate, but makes no mention of the frequent errors made by address management software and mailing houses to the perpetual annoyance of Glasgwegians.

However, I will accept the deletion of the page on condition that it is deleted entirely - that is to say it is imperative that "Glasgow Lanarkshire" does NOT redirect to Glasgow, since that is the point. To do so would be like redirecting Washington, Tyne and Wear to Washington DC.

In turn I will update the main Glasgow page to make the point that, contrary to common belief, Glasgow s not in Lanarkshire Paul Coyne (talk) 20:04, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Although this does not state that Glasgow was never in Lanarkshire it clearly indicates that for a very considerable time Glasgow has operated as a completely separate entity - http://www.scan.org.uk/knowledgebase/gazetteer/county-City_of_Glasgow.htm

However the County of City of Glasgow Bill, dated 1893, formally made the Burgh of the City of Glasgow an entity wholly, legally separate from the County of Lanark - http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/lords/1893/jul/04/second-reading
