Attraction Section
editWhoever added the attraction section, it's a great idea. I think we should move some of the info out of the intro paragraph and into the section, since it'd give the ability to go into more depth than should be done in the introduction. Uagent 06:03, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Nickname?
editGlendale nickname is "the other DALE" when compared to Scottsdale.
......really??? I've lived in Glendale for years and have never heard this. I think this should be removed. There isn't even a source to back this up. 68.231.15.20 04:37, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
I've tried to improve the section on the rivalry and I've removed that sentence (I've never heard that nickname either) but it's still pretty horrid. More than anything else, it needs good sources. -- The_socialist talk? 03:04, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Notable Residents
editCould add Evan Mecham, former governor of AZ (who has a lengthy page to himself here), who lived in Glendale. His page indicates that he lived in Glendale, but there's no mention of him here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sinderbloog (talk • contribs) 16:09, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
FYI--Marty Robbins died some time ago. If he's still a resident, he's in the dirt side of the grass174.103.223.79 (talk) 02:38, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
What? An article about a city without it's history?
editHow can anyone write an article about a city or town without including a "history" section of the same? Well, I fixed that. That's the beauty of Wikipedia, where anyone can make the proper additions and corrections to it's articles. Tony the Marine (talk) 22:34, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Structure
editHi. I'm going through all the US Cities (as per List of United States cities by population) in an effort to provide some uniformity in structure. Anyone have an issue with me restructuring this article as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline. I won't be changing any content, merely the order. Occasionally, I will also move a picture just to clean up spacing issues. I've already gone through the top 20 or so on the above list, if you'd like to see how they turned out. Thoughts? Swift City?
editIt seems like Glendale is renaming itself Swift City for a Taylor Swift tour. Is it worth noting in the article? There seems to be some reliable sources. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 19:24, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Speaking of which, there's a Rolling Stone article about it. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 19:53, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- No, per WP:NOTNEWS. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:05, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thought so too, and I agree it doesn't belong. Seems like Swift stans really want the name in the article, though. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 20:14, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- We're not news but if enough coverage about it makes it covered enough on-going so it be comes a notable part of its history after this week, some addition could make sense. Something similar-esq happened a bit ago when Rainn Wilson announced a name change as part of an awareness campaign for climate change and it's ended up as a short mention in Rainn Wilson#Personal_life, after some attempts to update his name.
- But since they've made clear this is a short-term ceremonial change (unlike Truth or Consequences, New Mexico), none of the names (bolded, infobox, etc) should be changed. Skynxnex (talk) 21:28, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

- No, per WP:NOTNEWS. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:05, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- It is not note-worthy in the article's lead or infobox, but I believe it should be noted in one of the sections, like Art and Culture. ℛonherry☘ 19:12, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- Strong disagree - it is a single concert in a major metro area. If Taylor was from Glendale then like maybe, but she isn't. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 15:29, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- But there is wide coverage by several reliable publications. ℛonherry☘ 15:21, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not a news source though, it is an encyclopedia. The Eras Tour page already mentions the Glendale tidbit. I do not necessarily think this is an encyclopedic detail for the town, as it is a ceremonial two day name change. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 15:29, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
- What is not encyclopedic about mentioning the fact that the city changed its name for two days for an artist who is set to boost the city economy so much that the city council decided to capitalize on it by doing a ceremonial, temporary name change? This is not simply a case of daily news coverage though. If the city council decided it was right to do all that for a two-day concert, I think that's support enough to include the "tidbit" in the Arts and Culture section about their city. Also, if there is information to be included associating subjects A and B, then that information should be mentioned in articles of both A and B, not just A or B; otherwise, it is not neutral. Additionally, this is not the first time a Swift tour is starting in Glendale. Her 2018 tour began here, but did not achieve the same type of widespread news coverage; but this one did, making it a different case. Also, Rihanna's show. ℛonherry☘ 16:01, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- I also want to point out that it's not just a temporary name change, but also the malls are putting up stuff, meanwhile the restaurants and businesses are capitalizing on it by changing their routines. The entire city is doing it like a typical American annual town feast. All this makes the event's inclusion necessary in the Arts and Culture section. ℛonherry☘ 16:05, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- Not sure what Rihannas show has to do with it.LegalSmeagolian (talk) 01:31, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- Try Google to understand the media coverage it received. But one could argue Glendale administration did not do anything for the halftime show, and that's exactly why the whole name chabge should be included in the section, 'cause it's not about Swift but about the city coming forward on its own to temporarily change its name. It's about the city. ℛonherry☘ 06:59, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

SWIFT CITY, ERAZONA. THAT'S ALL I ASK, YOU CAN CHANGE IT AFTER THE ERAS TOUR.
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. M.Bitton (talk) 17:11, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
