Strand deletion

9x5, you have removed all reference to the lovely Glengad Strand, and some people's plans for it. I don't know of any other article where people could learn more about it, despite what you say in your edit summary (as you can see, it's a red link). It truly is an idyllic spot, especially the Dunes; I thoroughly recommend a visit before it gets turned back into a building site. Here's some articles with before and after pictures:

Thankfully, for some reason Shell took away their material for the winter, so it's almost back to normal. But hurry!

"My" Blanking

LP, if you had taken the time to look, you would have seen that it wasn't me who removed info from the article [3] but an editor dealing with soapbox concerns. Wp:UNDUE, WP:COI, WP:NOTNEWS & WP:Soapbox. This article was created with the sole purpose of drawing attention to your campaign against shell. It has no infobox, no attempt to show geographical grid ref, population size and any other information you might expect when reading up about a village etc. GainLine ♠ _♥ 16:32, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

I am going to to turn that question back on you and ask why you didn't introduce it in the first place? Also please tell me why you disagree? I have cited some fairly good reasons and I am not alone. I am going to answer the questions you have turned back on me in the faint hope you might then answer mine. I didn't introduce it in the first place because I didn't think to. I disagree with both your interpretation of the Wikipedia policies you cite and your contention that your reasons are "good". If you add NPOV material to articles, you shouldn't be getting reverted. Just so we're clear here, You started an article on an area, you neglected to include any social or economic data etc to do with the area and yet its my responsibility to have it included? Hmmmm.... We both know that you disagree on interpretation of policies, I'm not alone in my assertions and you've yet to actually say why you disagree but I think we should leave that for the RFAR. You're far from clear. I didn't say it was your responsiblity alone, no more than it is mine or any other individual editor. I and others have discussed elsewhere why I believe 9x5's (and by extension your own) interpretation of various policies leaves a lot to be desired. It's not that hard to interpret policies, most of them have a {{nutshell}} on top of the page. I'm not sure how long GainLine and Falcon9x5 have been here, but I've been here a while, and over time, it becomes clear as to how policies basically work. What is in Glengad?

I decided to try do a little research on Glengad with a view to expanding this article, Firstly I googled Glengad Mayo population and could find no results. So I tried the CSO and found a table of population of towns alphabetically arranged:- [4] no sign of Glengad in 1996 and 2002 census. I checked Goldenpages for some basic services such as a shop [5], Post office [6], & church [7], still nothing so I checked for all services [8], nothing. Thinking the golden pages were boycotting Glengad, I actually rang directory enquiries and asked to be put through to that great bastion of Irish society, the pub! Except there are no pubs in Glengad!! what sort of town in Ireland doesn't have a pub? Time to look for it on google maps & this is what it looks like from the air:- [9]. Four buildings, (count them; you'll only need one hand, even if you've been playing with fireworks). I googled for the stone circle, its there but this is the first search result [10] which looks like some primary school kids project, most of the others relate to Donegal where there is something similar on Glengad head. This is it [11], Stonehenge it is not. I double checked and I can't see this article meeting notability, its only other (and main) claim to notability at creation is the protest to the corrib gas project taking place there but this doesn't meet requirements under WP:NOTNEWS & WP:NTEMP. This all leads me back to what I originally believed when I PRODed this article last month. It is Not notable and has been created for no other purpose except to WP:Soapbox. Glengad stretches all the way east to the townland of Barnacullew; to see this, you'll need to zoom out on the Google map. The pipeline landfall is the beach to the north. "Four houses", indeed. Have you never been curious enough to pay a visit? Lapsed Pacifist (talk) 12:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
