"early 1980s had no less than four players named Glenn" Should be "...no *fewer* than four..."

Glenn vs Glen

edit

Should there be a separate article for the name "Glen"? GK1 (talk) 02:26, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

There is Glen (disambiguation) which covers it pretty well. I'm going to change the "See also" target from Glen to Glen (disambiguation).
Also: this article covers some persons with a first name of "Glen" Michael Bednarek (talk) 03:08, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
They both are the same, technically Glen is real definite spelling closer to the origin, Glenn is just more popular spelling. Realistically Glen should be the article with Glenn redirecting, but popularity is going to rule that out. 2605:A601:A103:BB00:2043:6425:FBF9:5FF0 (talk) 04:55, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Glen as a form of Glenr

edit

What is the source for the Swedish use of Glen. I am of Swedish heritage, eastern side, and the name from my family knowledge is also a shortened form of Glenr... Glen Larson (talk) Sep 2011

It came from Scottish immigrants in the 16th century, 30,000 immigrated to Sweden first a mercenaries, but later to flee impoverished conditions in Scotland. 2605:A601:A103:BB00:2043:6425:FBF9:5FF0 (talk) 04:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Glyn -- Owain Glyndŵr

edit

Glen / Glyn is also Welsh. Owain Glyndŵr is a Welsh hero, (whose anglised name is Glendower). In our family tree is a Welsh man named Glyndwr -- usually spelled and pronounced Glyn / Glen -- and an American descendant named Glen. GeeBee60 (talk) 16:41, 11 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
