DYK hook

I've just corrected the DYK hook. The source (and article) says that Lim "assisted" the ministry of defence and wasn't "summoned" by them (which has all sorts of different connotations), and says that she helped with the ministry's multiple "underground storage bunkers" rather than a single "storage area". This was a poorly phrased hook, and I don't think it should have been passed without corrections given that the source doesn't actually support the material. Inaccurate information about NIE

Except that had you just edited the spelling error, it would have been correct. Overzealous deletion is not necessarily an improvement. SusunW (talk) 14:55, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

SusunW That was not a spelling error, it is a factual mistake. NIE is not a "university" and it never was. Her job was to develop the Institute of Education (IE)into a fully accredited university is not true. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 15:12, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

And I don't understand your hostile response either. This is not an "overzealous deletion". I removed inaccurate info from the article and I opened a discussion on the talk page. Your statement was that it was not supported by the source. The sources says “In 1991, she was appointed founding director of the National Institute of Education (NIE)—thereby helping to transform the Institute of Education (IE) into a fully-fledged degree-awarding institution. “My role was very clear: to raise the IE to a university standard, ”she says.“ Going in as a sort of outsider, I could sense a kind of resentment. I knew I had to tread carefully and yet at the same time be firm in implementing the changes required.” By the time she stepped down in 1994, NIE was offering not only four-year bachelor’s degrees, but also master’s and PhD qualifications.” Do you have a source that contradicts it? (edit conflict) This source relies almost literally on the subject's words. Claims involving another party needs independent references. Anyway, the present NIE was formally established in 1991 after a merger between the IE and CPE, and it was established as an institute under the Nanyang Technological University [1]. (It was never a university) Gloria Lim was appointed the first director. I have found no sources which say that Gloria Lim was the one who helped start any of the degree programmes. I see that there are numerous articles in the Straits Times about her development of NIE, but they can only be accessed in Singapore. [2], [3], [4] I'm in Mexico, not likely to be able to research there. This indicates that multiple degree programs [5] were added under her administration. SusunW (talk) 16:40, 1 March 2017 (UTC)
