Name and structure mismatch

edit

The structure in the chembox is for the phosphonic acid, so is the IUPAC name. However, the phosphonic acid is not the conjugate base (phosphate) after which this article has been named. Editors need to decide if they want to name the chemical after the common name (the phosphate) or its neutral form (the acid). Most of the intermediate species in the glycolysis cycle have this issue, where the acid is conflated with the conjugate base. This type of technical issue, although seemingly pedantic, is often used by detractors to denigrate Wikipedia.--Chibibrain (talk) 03:32, 23 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
