Descendants

edit

Remove the statement that it stars the decendents of previous games. That is just speculation at this point and the link in the reference proves nothing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.1.147.160 (talk) 11:01, 3 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

A line directly from a press release at press.nintendo.com is not in any shape, form, or fashion speculation. Arrowned (talk) 11:36, 3 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Well, the original source link didn't link to that page for whatever reason and that's why I said it. It seems to check out now though. (76.1.147.160 (talk) 05:45, 4 June 2009 (UTC))Reply
Might have been an error with Nintendo's press articles occasionally getting reshuffled or removed. We'll keep an eye on the link in the future in case it happens again. Arrowned (talk) 06:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Keep in mind that they stated the descendants would be in the game, not that all of the original characters would be gone. It's fully possible that the new cast is only one or two generations away, and that the old characters won't be dead yet. The wording in the article seems to contradict that distinct possibility, so if anyone can think of a way to reword it more neutrally, go right ahead. --The F50 Man (talk) 03:53, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

dead reference

edit

the first reference link, which is used several times in this article and in the Series article, just links to an empty page at nintendo's website. The Great Morgil (talk) 08:51, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

It did link to an E3 page, but I guess they wiped all of those. I don't know where the information would be replicated. Perhaps a link could be found to an archived version? And I'm sure some gaming news sites would have quoted it. 86.177.42.15 (talk) 12:03, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
The Japanese E3 page is still up if we need confirmation of the game's title, but we'd be hardpressed to be able to use that for confirmation of its plot, I think. Arrowned (talk) 13:24, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Release Date

the game will hopefully be released at november 29th.

C-Class Assessment.

edit

I'm going to get the bad news out of the way first: I believe that the article is still Start-class. I've assessed the article as such not because of too little information, but rather, too much.

You see, higher-class video game articles usually try to condense plot sections to a maximum of 2-4 paragraphs unless absolutely necessary. The plot section here is way, way, way too long. I understand that the game's plot is more complicated than "Isaac had baby, he wants to get the feather but then has to stop Alex from eating the world with darkness", but the article can afford to cut out a lot of less-important details. I'd probably organize it as a paragraph or two for the trip to get the feather, a paragraph about the grave eclipse, and then a paragraph about the Apollo Lens and the post-credits scene.

You don't need to go into massive detail about every character, every city, et cetera. In fact, some things - like Himi - could almost be written out of the plot entirely while losing little encyclopedic value. I strongly advise that this be done. Use the first Golden Sun as an example. The other issue I have is with very odd grammar choices, spread throughout the article. Words like 'propagated' or 'decried' in the development section, for instance - I might talk like that in normal conversation, but most people don't, and we're going for clarity and not poetry. Other sections don't seem much better about this; "But evaluation of this entry are not good as it's predecessors" seems incredibly mechanical compared to "Critics compared the game unfavorably to its predecessors", and that's something I came up with at 3:45 AM so there's probably a way to word that that's better still.

The article has the makings of a GA present, but it's going to need a good shave and a bit of polish before it can manage even C. Emmy Altava 08:44, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I am currently reviewing this article to see if it qualifies for GA in my assessment. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 02:52, 8 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

  • Result: the article, in my assessment, does indeed pass the criteria for GA status. The article is well written, verifiable, broad in its coverage, neutral, stable, and well illustrated with images.
