About the Airport
editI am changing the statement about the airport being closed to international travel because it is no longer true. Besides accepting commercial charter flights there is a passenger airline running flights from Nairobi, Kenya to Goma, Congo known because I received some guests in Goma who arrived on the flight from Kenya.
Nkunda
editI don't generally bother with updating info but noticed that the info in this article re Nkunda is now quite out of date. Contrary to what is stated about Rwanda continuing to support Nkunda, Rwandese forces have since arrested him and he is now in custody. Perhaps someone could check this out and change this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.23.135.26 (talk) 13:38, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
Population?
editThe population of Goma is given as 500,000. Elsewhere in the article it says that 40% of the city (= 4500 houses) were destroyed in 2002 by the volcano. That works out to a total of 11,250 houses for 500,000 people, or almost 50 people in every house. Something is wrong here.--Anand.abhishek73 (talk) 01:50, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Goma (people)
editCreate a section for People/Community Anand.abhishek73 (talk) 01:50, 23 June 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anand.abhishek73 (talk • contribs) 21:00, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
- Note that there is a specific argument against this proposal at Talk:Goma (people)#Goma (people). As this objections is uncontested over more than a year, I'll close this stale proposal. Klbrain (talk) 21:49, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

French U.N. mission
editIn the "Goma at the centre of the refugee crisis" portion of the "History" section of this article, the following sentence appears:
"One of the many UN missions attempted to provide a safe zone in the volatile situation and provided safe passage for the refugees, however they were French."
This sentence was inserted on 2016 September 22 by someone using the user name "137.224.252.14".
Would someone please explain what the quoted sentence means?
Does it mean that because the UN mission was French, the mission failed to provide a safe zone for refugees? … because the French don't like Rwandans? … or because the French are incapable of creating and maintaining camps for refugees? … or does it mean that the refugees were French? … or … what?
