Goofenspiel?
editI learned this game as goofenspiel from a card playing book. I'm trying to find it to reference it and add the name, but wouldn't mind if someone beats me to it. Chasmania (talk) 15:14, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
Sections deleted
editI deleted the section claiming this to be "an exact model of activity on the stock market", which seemed very dubious as well as original research, and also the "Poker analogy / betting variant". This had already been tagged as OR for over a year.
Goofspiel does share with Poker the property that it's advantageous to be able to "read" an opponent; this information could be added back in as a non-mathematical strategy note. The "game variant" in which you're allowed to change your bid is just silly -- there's no incentive for your original bid to be at all meaningful. You could just play a random card, do whatever boasting you think will psych out your opponent, and then when you've decided what your "real" bid should be, play that. - As a nod to the Poker skill, I included a link to Tell (poker) in the phrase that corresponds to it. Joule36e5 (talk) 03:55, 24 February 2015 (UTC)
