Gorontalo (city) → Gorontalo City – Per WP:NATURAL. The official name of the city is Kota Gorontalo which literally means "Gorontalo City" in English. Bluesatellite (talk) 23:46, 29 October 2018 (UTC)--Relisting. –Ammarpad (talk) 10:19, 6 November 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per standard practice (cf others in Category:Provincial capitals in Indonesia). — AjaxSmack 23:21, 7 November 2018 (UTC)
- AjaxSmack That's not a valid argument actually, what about Jambi City and Ternate City? I'm from Indonesia myself. And this place is known as Kota Gorontalo which is oftentime called simply Gorontalo, just like New York City which is oftentime called simply New York. Bluesatellite (talk) 01:31, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
- Point well taken, but the current title is still consistent with that of numerous other Indonesian city articles and is more common than what you propose. NB WP:TITLECHANGES ("If an article title has been stable for a long time, and there is no good reason to change it, it should not be changed.") and WP:OFFICIALNAMES. I'm not sure what the problem is that those move will solve, so I still oppose a move without further rationale. If you have a problem with the "(city)" disambiguator in general, maybe a discussion at WT:WikiProject Indonesia would allow for more time and generate more input. — AjaxSmack 00:34, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

- This could be more clear. A link to Medina would allow readers to verify. But it would also help to know why it is named the Porch of Medina. Shooterwalker (talk) 13:59, 8 March 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, I put a wl in.4meter4 (talk) 18:49, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- Article was expanded 5x and nominated in the correct time frame. Assuming good faith on the foreign language reference for the hook. Article appears to be in compliance with all policies. No plagiarism detected. This hook can be promoted.4meter4 (talk) 18:49, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
@4meter4, Shooterwalker, and Nyanardsan: Can I propose a variant of that hook:
- ALT1: ... that the Indonesian city of Gorontalo is nicknamed "Porch of Medina"?
Without the explicit location, I think many readers would just assume the city was near Medina, which would be much less of a hook. Also, I think there is potential to expand on the bentors[1] and use that as a hook. Rather than being constructed like Indian auto rickshaws they're built more like a bench or wheelchair strapped to the front of a motorcycle which the article explains is both cheap and dangerous. This line (machine-translated) also jumped out as interesting, "As bentor mushrooms in Gorontalo, socioeconomically, the number of unemployed and criminals in Gorontalo is decreasing." Rjjiii (talk) 13:56, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm fine with any ALTs as long as this article pass. However, I dont think the Medina assumption cant be fixed, I think we can simply just add that "did you know that Gorontalo, a city in Indonesia, is also known as Porch of Medina" Nyanardsan (talk) 14:02, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- ALT1 is on the right track. It needs more context, and the short statement is an ideal setup to provide it. e.g.: "... because" or "... for its history as..." or something to that effect. As is it's still a little hard to understand for the average reader. Shooterwalker (talk) 21:25, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
