Talk:Government-organized non-governmental organization

So what would be an example of a GONGO? It's an excellent oxymoron anyway.
I've removed the disambiguation template for now, until another definition of gongo appears.--BobBobtheBob 21:19, 7 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why to "expand" if Wikipedia has so tough censorship? Any added text that is truth but “politically incorrect” according to Wikipedia censors is disappearing in seconds. My suggestion to Wikipedia is to clearly state its censorship rules at the start page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.116.176.110 (talkcontribs)

The economist article does not refer to GONGOs or NGOs anywhere. Are there any reliable sources to substantiate the name or acronym? or is this just another non notable neologism awaiting deletion? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ohconfucius (talkcontribs) 05:54, 8 December 2006 (UTC). I believe it is not "Government Operated" but "Government Organized" And it doesn't operate exactly as said. GONGOs can be used to attract foreign aid to the government's projects, mitigate governmental (or NGO) mistrust in providing aid to the communities served, and it can be used to keep some governmental limits (ie; clearances, not culturally radical projects) to the aid present in the country. I have more research to add to this page that will give better context and provide the necessary academic citations. GONGOs are real, a quick search in Google Scholar reveals they are discussed extensively in the social science literature. I will provide a definition, explanation, and more examples on this page to provide more evidence for the use of this term. PoliSci1618 (talk) 07:22, 15 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Just in short. GonGo can also refer to Governance-on-the-Go: Empowering people through Web 3.0—Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.198.39.176 (talk) 12:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

GONGOGovernment-organised non-governmental organisation – Full name, easy to understand (similar as non-governmental organisation or public-benefit non-profit corporation).

Examples

edit

Based on revision history the "Examples" section is frequently modified. Some organizations added, some removed without proper evidence. At the time of writing it is very suspicious to see Amnesty International stated as GONGO. And previously stated russian "Nashi" organisation to be vanished out of the list. Please could someone review this section? 188.243.53.65 (talk) 05:34, 12 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
