NPOV?
edit"There are many features that make former GP2 players go misty eyed and amongst them were features such as:" "Similarly aged offerings such as Power F1 1995 were simply left in the dirt." Even if these don't constitute Point Of View, they're still not of an encyclopedic tone. There are no references in the article either. A lot of work to be done. - I've tried to make some edits to the article with citations, however, the amount of these is limited. Not very many sites carry review for the game.Shifter95 21:07, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- Since you both seem to be legitimate editors willing to improve the article, can you please refer to the section above, and please evaluate my reverted 7k-words edit? Thank you in advance. Ebacci EN (talk) 19:22, 16 July 2017 (UTC)
1995 or 1996?
editCan we pin down the release date for this game? The article currently has both 1995 and 1996. Some web sources seem to go for one and some for the other, and on my copy, the box says ©1995 but all the files are from 1996. -- DatRoot 20:33, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
- I believe it was 1996 for the U.S. market? Guroadrunner 15:32, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, the release was in the summer of 1996. The ©1995 is property a legecy from the many delays of the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.228.71.26 (talk) 11:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- The game was released in the UK late 1995 and released in summer 1996 in the USbergqvistjl 2 June 2008
- It was definitely released in the UK in summer 1996. I know because I didn't get my first PC until March '96, and I remember going to the game shop every few days during the summer to see if GP2 was out yet. I wouldn't have done that if I didn't have a PC to play it on.Arganoid (talk) 18:39, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I bought GP2 in the UK in June 1994. I still have the receipt. All this 1995/96 stuff is extremely strange to me. Websites seem to list the release date as either 95 or 96 too. Maybe this is the US release date ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.246.59.116 (talk) 05:37, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Theres no way you bought it in 1994 - I also very much doubt it was released in 1995. It was released after a heavy heavy delay, and I remember getting my copy Christmas 1996. I first played it at a friends house, while it was fairly new, but I definitely remember that to be the summer of 96, in the UK. However, memory alone is not sufficient as a source. I may have some old gaming magazines that may settle the issue. 86.6.34.95 (talk) 13:03, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I beleive it's 1996, I remember thinking to myself when it came out 'crap, the season's 2 years old at least!'. And the 1994 season at that... odd.
It was released in summer 1996 everywhere in the world as I pre-order it on an online shop in Italy (first internet purchase of my life) in may-june 1996 and they sent it to me in July when it became available. I'm 100% sure because I remember playing a lot with this new game in summer 1996 when I was just graduated from high school and preparing for college. I had been waiting GP2 since the end of 1995 when I bought a Pentium PC. I remember that a stolen alpha version of GP2 infected by a virus was leaked on internet in may-june 1996. I even saw a copy of that alpha version on a Nasa ftp server! I also remember the game was supposed to be released in 1995 (this is why it's written 1995 on the box) and that in december 1995, just before Christmas, Microprose put online a photo of a little girl dressed like an angel with a GP2 box apologizing for not being able to release GP2 before 1996 with a sentence at the bottom of the photo: "You know we tried...". I remember there was poll on usenet in spring 1996 where people were trying to guess the release date of the heavy delayed GP2. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.58.227.92 (talk) 21:30, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
First with SVGA and 3D texture mapping
editI've added a fact tag to these two items as Car & Driver (game) (1993, EA) had SVGA as did NASCAR Racing (1994, Papyrus) and Papyrus' IndyCar Racing had 3D texture mapping. -- Guroadrunner (talk) 06:30, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Who has the game manual?
editI just wanted to ask who has the game manual. Many of the parts of this game article can be referenced through that, but I don't have it at my current location. -- Guroadrunner (talk) 06:39, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
125.237.45.185 (talk) 18:12, 7 March 2009 (UTC) i got the game manual& the poster that came with the game all in its orignal box, if u want e mail me on wakeley@xtra.co.nz
- I now have been reunited with my game box and materials from almost 20 years ago. :-) Guroadrunner (talk) 06:09, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
Full title of the game is possibly wrong?
editthe games full title is listed as being Grand Prix 2 or GP2 for short, whilst this is fine the games full title is actually World Circuit Racing Grand Prix 2, (or World Circuit Racing Grand Prix II in the US) this is evidenced by the games boxart wich has World Circuit Racing written in smaller text at the top of the box, and even more obviously on the US version the text is bolted onto the side of the logo
this would precisely correlate with the first games boxart witch sates the game is called Microprose Formula One Grand Prix with the text Microprose Formula One being significantly smaller than the words Grand Prix
since the first game is listed under its full title then this game should also be, either that or the title of the first game must be shortened to simply Grand Prix
im bringing these inconsistency up on the F1GP talk page too, GP3 and 4 are also wrong since they should be called Grand Prix 3 by Geoff Crammond & Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 4, maybe im being pedantic but idk it dosnt seem correct to me
Tony Spike (talk) 00:34, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- I would argue this is a pedantic point that I would not endorse. It would be akin to arguing Ayrton Senna's Wikipedia page should be retitled Ayrton Senna da Silva per his full name. Guroadrunner (talk) 06:08, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- as i say ....may be it is but its still the case that i dont see how your Ayrton Senna comparison proves it to be pedantic as they are two different things really, because even though the title of the PAGE is Ayerton Senna the paragraph underneath still begins with "Ayrton Senna da Silva was a brazilian racing driver" .....this page does NOT it uses the common name and i HAVE mentioned this on all of the series pages just to see what people think Tony Spike (talk) 10:34, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
