Lap record
editThere has been a lot of edit warring going on regarding the infobox parameter "lap record". The template does not differentiate between qualifying record and race record. Rather than go back and forth, can we arrive at a consensus on this talk page? Bahooka (talk) 18:19, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- If it isn't clear what that parameter means, then either it should be removed or changed and clarified. Otherwise even if we reach agreement here, one way or another, how wil any reader know if that record is from a race lap or qualifying lap?
- Template motorsport venue does that clarification: there is a space for race lap record and qualifying lap record. No doubts. As for this template motorsport race, most articles don't use lap record. To see lap record, go to track article. The ones that have lap record, some use qualifying (Indy 500) others race lap (Toronto GP) and others should be using race laps since there is no qualifying (Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Mann TT). So IMO removed it or change the template to have both records (and checks all related articles).
- Besides, for Long Beach GP even if you considerer qualifying as lap record, the record belongs to Colton Hertha on 2022 and not that 2007 blabish. That new user must be the same guy making the changes under the IP. Rpo.castro (talk) 19:56, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
