Just why does this place come to be called "Grande Ile?"
editJust why has no one seen fit to explain the use of the words "Grande Île", in a discussion of this famous city? Is it laziness or stupidity? All any one had to have done, was to explore the history of this great city to find out the solution. Just why were hundreds of cities in the 16th thru the 19th century CE, also described as "islands?" It is very simple, when one takes the time to look stuff up!
Thus, any city, surrounded by "moats" or "rivers" or a combination of both, could easily be considered as "Isles!"96.19.156.227 (talk) 20:48, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Ronald L. Hughes
