Does anyone have an area figure for the island? It would be interesting to include it. 195.73.119.90 09:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Population

edit

The 2006 census gives a figure of 6,541 for Cobh Urban district and 6,339 for Cobh Rural district. The Rural district includes Great Island (other than Cobh town) plus Haulbowline and Fota. Haulbowline had 165 people but Fota, like Great Island, has no separate population figure, not being considered "offshore" because of its long-established bridge connection to the mainland. More recent bridges apparently don't matter. The summary is that the 2006 population of Great Island was 6541 + 6339 - 165 - Fota, thus at most 12,715. jnestorius(talk) 20:11, 11 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
