Great Phenol Phamine
editInteresting story--thanks for ogling through the microfiche and sharing it with us.
Did Germany artificially manufacture this phenol shortage? Carbolic acid--acid from coal. There was and is no shortage of coal in Germany. Bayer was in the same vicinity to commodities as Edison who built his own shop to produce the acid.
This historical ommission belongs in the same family of revisionism that doesn't explain how island dwellers would starve rather than fish during the Irish Famine. There's no deception, misrepresentation or denial of an abundance. There's just silence. Ditto on the rationing that occurrs in the US to induce an empathetic sense of patriotism and civil responsibility.
Can anybody provide a citation or see-also link to expand on this so called shortage? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.43.73 (talk) 16:38, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Aspirin destination
editWas the aspirin made out of Edison's phenol consumed in the United States or exported to Germany. If exported how did the shipments get around the British blockade of ALL German bound cargoes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.22.171.3 (talk) 13:58, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
