Drama
editI have memories of Piccadilly creating dramas in its early days --- there are three that I can remember: 'The Last Rose of Summer', 'The Hunters Moon' and 'The Babylon Run'... a trilogy in a surprisingly restrained three parts by Steve Gallagher, the first part made it out as a book Gallagher, Steve (1978). The Last Rose of Summer. Corgi. ISBN 055210938X.; as far as I'm aware the other two parts did not, but I'd love to be proved wrong there!
Would it be appropriate to make mention of such a connection to show that local independant radio stations were not set up solely to pump out none stop pop? --Geoff Riley (talk) 15:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Chris Tetley
editSorry to report that the Chris Tetley who presented the rock shows on Piccadilly Radio was not, in fact, a left-handed Worcestershire batsman who bowled leg breaks and to whom the link directs you. He was from Macclesfield, was a monumental piss-artist, stood for the Monster Raving Loony Party, and was an absolutely top bloke. I should also mention that he's been dead for quite some years. I'm afraid this might not be eligible for Wikipedia, since it's primary research - I had the pleasure and privilege of working with him for about eight years IIRC. His death certificate stated that he died of rock'n'roll. Not really, but it might as well have. A good lad. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.70.64.53 (talk) 23:12, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
Key 103
editThis article is just incorrect. Piccadilly Radio became Key 103 on FM. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.27.68.115 (talk) 18:18, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Page move discussion
editDo we really want the article about the entire 50-year history of Piccadilly Radio to be under "Greatest Hits Radio Manchester & The North West" forever? I'd like to propose that this page be moved back to Piccadilly Radio and provide a general history of the station itself - there is more than enough sourceable material out there for an article about Piccadilly's history. Flip Format (talk) 08:20, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- No we don't, and your suggestion for a Piccadilly Radio article makes sense. Would you see the article just covering the Piccadilly era and, if so, where do you see the Magic and now GHR eras being covered?. Rillington (talk) 15:01, 23 November 2024 (UTC).
- I'm glad you agree! Personally, I'd include the Magic era as a section within the article and have "Magic 1152" (or "Magic 1152 (Manchester)" to disambiguate the Newcastle station) redirect to it. Key 103 should also have its own article that focuses on the Key era pre-Hits. GHR only warrants a brief mention in my view - there was never any Manchester-specific content once the GHR rebrand was completed (it was always shared with the North West).
- There's more than enough quality and sourceable material about Piccadilly Radio and Key 103 out there for a good quality article, as a major station in the history of British radio - I may work on it over the next few weeks as a draft. Flip Format (talk) 18:16, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for outlining your ideas/plans and I think they are spot-on, and I'm sure that there is more that can be added - after all there's enough material available for a book to be written about the station!
- I agree with your suggestion re Magic 1152 so that it is differentiated between this and the Newcastle station and of course there already is an article for GHR North West and again I agree that it should just be a brief mention at the end of the Piccadilly Radio article as it would tell the full story of the 1152 Manchester frequency.
- As for Key 103 having its own article, for now I'd be contented for it to remain within the Hits Radio Manchester article as I'm not sure what else could immediately be added, especially as aircheckdownlaods.com is not seen as an acceptable source which is frustrating as it would give the independent references for notable presenters who worked at Key 103. That said, an article for Key 103 is worth considering. Rillington (talk) 16:21, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
