High Sheriff of Durham

I have removed the line stating that Sir Walpole Lloyd Greenwell, 1st Baronet, was the High Sheriff of Durham in 1903. This is because the London Gazette of March 1903 records that John Ewer Jefferson Hogg assumed that role for 1903-1904.[1] Also, there may have been some confusion in the mind of the original editor with Colonel Thomas George Greenwell, a relative of the Greenwell baronets, who was High Sheriff of Durham in 1951.[2] I may myself be mistaken - and am trawling through a very dry history of the family just to be sure. Never mind, I see now that the confusion arises because Burke's lists him simply as "High Sheriff 1903" without stating the county - so I checked the rest of the 1903 appointments in the Gazette and found him listed against Surrey.[3]

I have rated the article in its present state as a stub using the criteria: "A very basic description of the topic." The Greenwells are actually quite a notable and interesting family, so I hope to find time to add more to the article. Keristrasza (talk) 11:18, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
