Investing in Stocks Illegal
editMay 21, 2018, the article says, "In 1880, the London-based Gresham Life Assurance Company bought the property, at a time when it was illegal to invest money in stocks, but rental income was a wise investment." The statement, although unsited, is interesting and explains why the insurer built it, but it must mean illegal for an insurance company to own stock. Moreover, and even so, where was it illegal? In Great Britain? Hungary? I am going to change it to "for an insurance company to invest in stocks..." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:86:C480:153D:C101:49A5:AFEC:194E (talk) 03:55, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
