Invented by Trend Micro

Is this term invented by Trend Micro? It seems so.

Moocat 12:26, 20 January 2007 (UTC) No, it was not. Trend Micro first started using the term in the summer of 2005. The term had been in use elsewhere in the computer industry since at least September 2004.Reply

It's not very widely used though, is it? Some of these are clearly malware and should go in that article. - Paul 17:08, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Page move

edit

Moocat 13:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)I'm trying to get the "Greyware" page removed or just redirected to this one.Reply

The move was requested at Wikipedia:Requested moves, and now that five days have passed I'm completing it. It's better if you don't do "cut-and-paste" moves, as it breaks up the revision history. I'm fixing it now, and moving the history from Greyware to Grayware. -GTBacchus(talk) 21:10, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Moocat 15:00, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Thanks, GTBacchus. I wasn't sure what I was doing -- put the request in and then thought I had found a way to do it myself. Sorry about that; I'm relatively new at this.Reply

It should be moved, it is really the same thing as malware. Sam Barsoom 19:06, 26 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I disagree because most people see malware and think things like viruses, worms and trojans. I know I don't think of malware when I hear spyware or adware. I think of them as although dangerous but not on the same level as the other types of illicit software out there. Instead I think this page should be expanded to help promote the term grayware and make people more familiar with it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.139.176.84 (talk) 18:28, 23 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps that is a mis-perception that needs to be fixed. I think this would be better suited as a sub-section in the malware article. Sam Barsoom (talk) 00:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

how many tracking cookies does it take to significantly reduce computer efficiency?

Being a small home user I have spent days trying to get things straight. User:Eight 2007 13 September 07 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Eight 2007 (talkcontribs) 07:49, 13 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio removal

edit

I just excised a large chunk of text apparently copied verbatim from http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/global/products/collaterals/evaluation_guide/OSCE7IDG.pdf (p. 13-14). What's left does appear legit, though. Hqb 09:05, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
