- Wikipedia is not a link farm. The links should be removed (see WP:NOT, WP:EL, etc). Valrith 22:15, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
State of the page
editQuite frankly, it's awful. POV, poorly written, spurious if not irrelevant references to other ideas, poor attempts at humour and two very un-Wiki quotations. I will be working on a full rewrite. In the meantime, I'll make edits to the current page to at lest rectify some of the problems. Caudex.ingeniosus (talk) 07:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, i am requesting that a link be added to the gripes page to our site please.
Our site is called
www.gripesonline.com and i feel it should be added with the other gripes sites currently on there.
Thanks!! 84.13.85.90 (talk) 12:19, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
Added the link to gripesonline.com as requested. Johnadonovan (talk) 21:41, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Reference to royaldutchshellplc.com
editThe section below was deleted on 18 June 2009 from the article by someone using a numerical IP address. No explanation was given on this talk page. I am the operator of royaldutchshellplc.com and have always edited using my name and declared my involvement with the site from the outset. I believe the site provides the best example of the impact a gripe site can have even on a multinational giant. Subject to discussion on this talk page in the meantime, I propose to revert this section in four weeks time. Johnadonovan (talk) 21:59, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
An "Accountability in Action" [1] published by One World Trust in July 2007 said: "As The Royal Dutch Shell plc website shows, a gripe site can have a profound impact on global organisations". The newsletter went on to say: "The site has not only cost Shell billions of dollars in Russia... "even Shell insiders unhappy with the company use it". The article concluded: "Royaldutchshellplc.com is just one of many examples of how the Internet makes it possible for concerned individuals to initiate discussion about global organisations, post and share information about organisational actions and their impact, and provide a common forum for affected stakeholders. At the very least, ‘gripe sites’ such as this have a valuable watchdog function and remind global companies of the power of public opinion – thus forcing them to confront weaknesses in their own accountability".
Self-Griping
editI know of at least one gripe site that is put out by the target itself in order to clear confusion and better his services: the ultimate cheapskate Clark Howard has a forum where people can debunk his advice, all in hopes (by all parties concerned) that people can become better educated about saving money. this might be one rare example of a gripe site that doesnt fit the adversarial definition of gripe site and might be worth mentioning imho. 99.177.105.69 (talk) 07:54, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
